How it Started:
National Eyewear Day is celebrated annually on June 6th and was founded in 2016 by Zyloware Eyewear to promote awareness of eye health, the importance of annual eye exams, and the fashion and functionality of eyewear. The day highlights the shift of eyeglasses from a necessity to a fashion accessory and serves as a reminder to keep prescriptions updated.
The date was selected in honor of the birthday of Joseph Shyer, the founder of Zyloware in 1923. The day reminds everyone to get yearly comprehensive eye exam.
